Phew.....
17 more days.
Almost. Done. This school year has just dragged on,
and on, and on, and on, and on..... But, I think we're
finally turning the corner. We finally have a signed and
current IEP. This is important because the current IEP now has some great modifications; Ashton only has to write 2 words on any written assignment, 3-5 words he can type on an AlphaSmart, and over 5 words he's allowed to scribe to someone. He is to be in vision of any staff member 100% of the time (bathroom included). The goals are reasonable and measurable and best of all, we will be getting ESY services (12hours of LEAD
*academics*, 6hrs of OT and 4hrs of speech) AND summer school! Awesome!! happy dancing ....
So, while Ashton has been suspended twice this year (once for 2 days because he disrobed in the bathroom and walked out into the hallway and the other time for 1 days because he ran out of the school building) and sent home
many times, I can honestly say I actually feel positive about school at this point.
He's got 4 weeks of camp coming up this summer plus Surfers Healing (we're keeping our fingers crossed that he gets in for the Virginia Beach camp again), and then add in ESY services plus summer school and he's not going to have a single moment to get in trouble this summer! HA!
Have a great evening all
Ciao!
