  • #autismconf: The Social Express

Have you ever had a challenging time showing a child with Autism how to act appropriately in certain situations?

Let's just say we haven't reached that moment with our son, Short Stack.  Well, not as in depth as we'd like anyway.

I had the opportunity to meet Marc Zimmerman at their booth of the National Autism Conference, and he showed me this program that is available on the iPad, for the Mac and PC.   Now how cool is that?!  I can actually utilize this service from whatever platform I have.  Okay, sorry, another geek out moment.

The platform that he showed me was based on the iPad, and it was simple to use.   It presented me options and I selected which one was the correct way to respond.

A basic 'game' in my opinion, that not only educated - but entertained as well.

Here's a youtube vid showing more info:

I look forward to seeing more from this company - once I get an ipad from the ipad challenge. :)

Have you used this program?  What do you think?

We have been using this program with our five year old son for the past few months and he loves it!  He asks to play it every night. It has definitely helped him to learn what to do when he gets upset, and also to identify emotions in other people. We are using it on our PC and it requires a lot of adult interaction (until he memorized all the responses). My only complaint is that it is too short. It took a few weeks for our boy to play through all the lessons in the episodes and to complete them all appropriately..hoping for an expansion pack. :)
