  • Dear @50cent - How Dare You!

Apparently 50cent decided that autistic is the new R-word. Someone insulted him on twitter and he thought a valid comeback was "I've seen your picture fool, you look autistic"

    Dear 50cent,

How dare you. As a man whose name is a number and grammatically incorrect you have got some nerve. You as a celebrity have so much power. YOU have an ability to change the world in ways that parents like me could never fathom. What I would give for an audience the size of yours to listen to what I have to say about how wonderful my son with autism is. Instead you took that power and you abused it. You took innocent children like my son and made them a joke.
I am sure it wasn't your intention to piss off an entire community of people who spend every day fighting against this kind of crap you put out there. I am sure it wasn't your intention to look like an absolute fool. But you did. So before you start throwing around autistic as the new insult, I invite you to spend a day in our life. One day, of meltdowns and tears. Not just his but mine as well. I invite you to come and sit through dinner here and see what we live with. Before you dare use that phrase, understand it. I DARE you. Or are you too afraid to see the truth behind the nasty words you used.

24 Hours in my life 50cent, I am willing to bet you couldn't handle it tough guy.

This is what autistic looks like:

My son is smart, loving, witty, caring, and intelligent.Perhaps you could learn something from him.

    Always,

    A Very Angry Autism Parent

You are stronger and a much more of a role model than any celebrity out there.
  • Semper_medusa@xanga

Your son is adorable...I know that's not what this post is about...but he has gorgeous eyes.

  • AncoraImparo@xanga

He also suggested to 3,366,334 followers on twitter “If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pu**y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol”
Of course this was in the wake of multiple glbt youths committing suicide.
    He later apologized.
Not sure I have much respect for him.

    Regarding your comment...

You can't be insulted by someone that writes insulting lyrics for a living.

An insult only counts if the person who is doing it knows better and is trying to hurt someone.

He doesn't know any better. Just like this fellow:

    http://rapgenius.com/The-niceguys-yves-ari-gold-remix-lyrics#lyric

They use the word indiscriminately. You can get all het up about it if you like, like someone using the N word and cry discrimination against blacks. Or you can say they're complete idiots and move on with your life.

    Recommend AncoraImparo's post.

Dear friend, I would like to sincerely apologize for my insensitive remarks. Unfortunately, I am an ignorant street thug, and care more about looking "hard" than I do about the consequences of my words and actions. Me having money and fame does not negate the fact that I am a complete and total tool.

Thank you for writing this though. The fact that I stumbled upon it seems like nothing less than a miracle. I guess it's a good thing that you tagged me!

If you would like to discuss this issue further, you can find me at the club, bottle full of bub............

Insult one individual with the "a-word" and the entire autism community flips out.

Insult one individual with the "r-word" and the entire mental disability community flips out.
Insult one individual with the word "nerd" and all self-proclaimed nerds should flip out?Insult one individual with the word "obese" and everyone who finds themselves fat should flip out as well?

Get real. Check the original context in which the word is used in response to someone who tweeted a threat to shoot him.
    Oh, and he dares.

yeah talk about getting your panties in a bunch, just because your life is hard doesn't mean you should cry at every little insult people mindlessly throw out. people can't offend you unless you allow them to. you're making a mountain out of a molehill, and everyone saying bad things about 50 cent being an uneducated thug n*****, you're just as bad and twice as self-righteous. so everyone's gotta apologize to you but you can insult other people? get real, we don't live in a fairy tale land. people say this and that, pick your battles, if name-calling is the battle you pick, then live by your rules as well. words are words, at least fitty isn't going around killing autistic kids in the name of god and a purer nation or something like that. you parents of autistic kids need some growing up to do yourselves, there's more to life than getting upset over something someone who doesn't matter to you said. we all say stupid shit more than once in all of our lives. i used to throw around the word fag and gay but i'm not a homophobe, i make fun of people being fat despite the fact that i have been fat before and subject to ridicule, i make fun of people for being black, white and asian, who the fuck cares, if someone's annoying the shit out of your, anyones instinct is to retaliate with the first offensive thing that comes to mind whether they mean it or not. jesus christ. instead of focusing on your egos and these petty little verbal battles and teaching your kids to get offended by stupid things like this, focus on ignoring negativity and culturing positivity. fucking autisable, yea autism can be an awful disorder to deal with, especially in your loved ones, but there are a million other disease, defects and departures from norms that undergo ridicule every single day. does it matter? do these words depress you? you're allowing them to depress you. get over it. i've been called every single name in the book to my face, degraded for being female, ugly, fat, stupid, dog eating asian - i don't even have kids yet but sounds like im more mature than most. life goes on, this is like the autism community's celebrity gossip page, ridiculous. write about science, development and proper nurturing techniques instead of being some emo-ass autistic-offspring producing self-haters. did you get offended? are you gonna blog about it? do you want an apology?

  • blowingmoney@xanga

your son is beautiful and as long as you know that then you shouldn't be getting offended by something that a 'celebrity' says. he only has an influence over people who let him and that should not bother you either. people are going to be ignorant and you just have to get over it and look past it.

  • QxM@xanga

if he got shot 9 times, i'm sure he can handle anything haha.

  • nimbusthedragon@xanga

Expecting intelligence from 50cent says more about you than anything else, though.

  • wordyferalvelociraptor@xanga

That he couldn't handle 24 hrs in the life probably sums it up.  Wish he could use his platform in a responsible way.  (Although does that expectation say more about me than him?)

  • jeribaby18@xanga

@selfish_ditz@xanga - Your Xanga name says it all... Until you live the life of raising and Autistic child, you have no right judging the person who posted that. Imagine having a child that may need your care for the rest of your life. That may not be able to function normally in society. I am not sure how severe this child's Autistic spectrum is, but either way it is debilitating and extremely stressful to the family. You have absolutely no right to be such a cold individual in response to this post. This person has every right to feel offended and you have no right to tell someone how to feel and respond. 50cent is a complete moron and for someone to stick up for his lack of respect is just as bad. Who do you think you are? I think you should spend a day in the life of a family with an Autistic child and then come back and talk your silly nonsense. I can see the type of person you are, so good luck in this world. It is the people like you who make this world the shitty place that it is. The ones who lack respect, compassion, and empathy.

  • RomanticFantasyGirl@xanga

Its admirable that you stand for what you believe is right and wrong. I have never cared for an autistic child but I have seen the pain of others who have. its hard I understand. And its not right that he used that word as an insult. But I do believe everyone does make mistakes and at one point in our lives we may say something that another can take great offense to without the intention being there. I wouldn't hold it against him. What I loved the most about this post is when you state that celebrities have the power to speak to the world and make a difference. This is so true and its so sad that most don't take advantage of that and instead show a bad example for others to follow.
