GAPS Diet, It has helped the boys

I found out about GAPS via a mom at the OT office . Two years a go, there wasn't much about this, but since then, it seems to have blossomed. I just wanted to share two great sites that has helped my kids. I wasn't that stick. We already ate bone broths, and I already cooked everything homemade. I did have to switch to making GF breads vs other breads that I made. I did have to switch noodles. Also, I took a year to make the switch. My kids were so finicky about foods, that I couldn't change it all at once. I had to give them a chance to adapt. So while this is a great diet for kids and adults who deal with autism, it also isn't smart to make radical changes quickly. While change is necessary, you must give them time to change and it will not happen over night. Now that my kids are on this GFCF, sugar free, they are about 80% symptom free. That's not to say they still don't have autism. But it is manageable. When they do get it into their system... YIKES! World, watch the hell out! It's like they were 100x worse then before. And takes a month or so for them to calm down.
I have heard lots of parents argue, that is too much of a change. Too me, living in constant meltdowns, no eye contact, non-verbal worlds, loosing my children in public, biting, fighting, pulling their teeth out, hitting their heads against the walls, chewing on shirts, spinning, drooling, pinching, all that screaming.... oy-vey. Well its worth a shot. And if it takes a year to find out, so what. I got 20 years to raise them, might as well try it now, rather then at 17 and they are REALLLLLY set in their ways.
Check out, there are lots of other great sites out there. Here, is one that got me started.
