A Message to Jenny McCarthy

So it’s a Monday morning and I get to my computer at work and I start checking the emails I received over the weekend and I see a link to a wonderful Website called Special Needs Book Review where they have been so gracious to read our book, Look at My Eyes and they interviewed me (a dad) and did a great job.I was so excited to have the opportunity to share some thoughts with this great outlet–that is read by many, many parents (and hopefully dads) and just thrilled to be able to make more connections…not just to hopefully sell some books, but to reach as many people dealing with a child on the autism spectrum as possible.
I went to my friend and fellow dad with child with autism Stuart Duncan to post the link to the interview on his site…Stuart lives in Canada and I have never met him but I would consider him a friend and a fellow father fighting for his son! Stuart and I have had a few conference calls together and have been featured in publications together…so it’s a joy to share information with him and to read his posts and blogs.
And there it was…I opened his page to see that Jenny McCarthy is apparently taking her clothes off for Playboy all in the name of Autism. (Note: I am not going to link the article of Jenny making this announcement because I don’t want any more clicks on that b.s. as possible)
Can I explain how angry I am right now? Probably not! This is just a joke and an outrage and I’m so ticked off on so many levels.
Who made this woman the Queen of Autism? She’s all about “curing autism” and how apparently her son had it and is now “cured” or something…which would be amazing since I don’t think I’ve EVER heard of anyone being cured from autism…but maybe he’s extra-extra special.
She’s big into bio-meds and all the vaccines “caused” my son to have autism although all of the reports she hangs onto have been disproved and not deemed scientific at all.
Let me get this straight…this no talent, fake boob, D-list “actress” (if you could call her that) who wrote a book (big deal, I wrote a book too–and it’s actually a helpful book!) and claims to have all the answers to autism–apparently she’s extra super smart…she just plays dumb in her life…is now going to take her clothes off to “fund autism research”
I’d love to go on and on and on about how pissed off I am and how stupid the media is to even report this…this is nothing more than a pathetic cry for attention by an aging (yet beautiful still I’m sure) never-has-been person peddling her son’s diagnosis to get money.
Shame on you Jenny McCarthy! You are a disgrace to your son and to all the parents out there who are truly fighting and scraping every last resource possible to help pay for medicine, therapy, testing, treatment, anything and everything to give our child a future!
You are hurting those of us who truly are trying to make a difference in the autism community.
You are a shame to your name…you decided taking your clothes off 20 years ago was the best and only way to make a name for yourself and to make money…that’s fine, that’s up to you…and kudos to you for maintaining your surgically enhanced looks at your age now where you are able to be comfortable in stripping for the Playboy again…if you’ve got it, flaunt it.
BUT DON’T PRETEND THAT YOU’RE DOING THIS TO HELP YOUR SON AND OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF YOUR BOTOXED HEART…call it what it is….you need money and you crave attention…great, but don’t pimp your child in order to get attention or make money.
You don’t like what I’m saying…you are free to contact me directly and I’ll give you my mobile number and would love to visit with you! info@thefowler4group.com
Have some respect for yourself and for your child…have some respect for us parents with children on the spectrum that can’t sleep because of the fears and stresses of our daily lives and the thought of our children growing up unable to blend into society as we get older…
Keep your mouth shut, keep your clothes on…or at least don’t associate Autism when you do it!

I don't think it's the greatest plan, but I can't judge her for trying to bring awareness to a cause, even if her own agenda is a little...wonky. To be fair, she had done Playboy before even having a son, and she's always been very confident and free with her body. I completely understand your anger, but I think it's harsh to call her a disgrace to her son.
Somebody needs to tell her that vaccines don't cause autism. It's harming many people who are not taking vaccines for that reason. There are so many preventable deaths that occur because of the lack of vaccination. On what scientific grounds other than a flawed study does she believe that junk?
Hmm... well, if she says she's doing it for a good cause then more power to her. There's no need to be so angry and call her all sorts of names; it only comes to show your lack of good character.
Hey, taking her clothes off to fun autism research benefits everyone; the future of medical sciences will have a better way to treat autism, and we get to see a hot chick naked! Shame on YOU for being a too emotionally reactive parent.
P.s. can I have that link to Her Nakedness?
She's just posing nude. It's not like she's getting gangbanged by five tentacles at the bottom of a well in the middle of a 50-man masturbation party and then showing it to autistic children for their parents' money. She's taking off her clothes, getting thousands of dollars for it because she can, and giving those thousands of dollars away instead of keeping it. I think that's pretty damned respectable. Maybe not family-friendly, but respectable.
Her posing nude isn't hurting anyone. But the things she says about vaccines are terrible. Kids are dying because their parents didn't vaccinate them, for fear of autism. If she's causing people to make that choice, that's harming a lot of kids.
You sound jealous and judgemental. HUNDREDS and perhaps THOUSANDS of families have witnessed their children have seizures after a round of shots, and then noticed a regression in speech and social interactions.
The doings of random celebrities isn't something worth getting angry about. If you do, you'll keep getting angry about things that don't matter.
For the record, if there was a cause I truly believed in (such as curing autism) I would strip naked and prance around Buckingham Palace if it could possibly make my point.
The bigger issue is that McCarthy uses BAD SCIENCE to try and cure autism. It's like me trying to promote curing diabetes through leeches (which is done in parts of South America). Or using ground up rhino horn to cure impotence (as is done in parts of Asia). Or curing AIDS through raping a virgin (which is done in parts of sub-Saharan Africa).
Rather than admonish Jenny McCarthy for posing nude, how about admonishing her for convincing thousands of parents that like her, she can cure her child of autism by a gluten-free diet.
This is how I feel about all the NFL wearing pink in October.
I think you maybe you have anger issues. Whether it is the way you would like for her to or not, Jenny McCarthy is making a huge differences in the autism community and she isn't writing hate-filled letters or blogs in response to those who do not share her same viewpoint. You have no right to stand in judgement nor can you know what is in her heart. You words show your own true character. My advice to you is to have some respect for others who share this world. You don't have to agree, but attacking others who do not believe as you do is no answer either. Sad.......really.
LOL @ botoxed heart.
yeah, she's annoying. apparently she's an "indigo" child and her son is a crystal, too. whateverthefuck that means.
@Celtic_haven@xanga - And where's your research?
I'm really surprised that as the father of a child on the spectrum you would be so harsh. Sure, she's a little...."out there", but honestly it's HER body and a cause that she feels passionate about. The fact that she still thinks vaccines cause autism is ridiculous, but she's still doing a good thing. I'm not saying you should go out and buy 50 playboys.....or even one....but maybe you should be a little less mean spirited with your judgement.
I disagree with her posing for 'Autism Awareness'. She's in a high profile position within the Autism community. This means that the media and public look to her as an example. And as we can see, many don't agree with how well she's been doing in that department lately.
She has the right to do what she wants, but does that make it the right thing to do?
There's a difference between doing it and donating the money... and making it a big publicity thing. While she's still doing a good thing either way... one of them is a little more self-serving than the other.
And, for a lot of people, it's sort of an uncomfortable way to earn money for a cause associated with their kids.
It's still a good thing she's doing, but it's sort of like "It's great that this porn star is donating $50,000 to charity!" but a lot of people would be mortified to see her do a "500 cocks for 50k for children's cancer!" event. (Obviously what J McC is doing is MUCH less extreme and this is a very, very dramatized version.)
Some people are just more conservative than others... and things like this are going to bother some people more than others.
Whatever. I hope she gets a lot of money to donate to proper research.
I hear her son has Landau Kleffner Syndrome, which is what my son has... her "pseudo-science" tag is a little unfair as all she really did was trust a doctor who hadn't been honest.. what parent would have expected that? This made her a scapegoat figure for the pharmaceutical industry to bury her concerns in hysteria while her son continues to have this illness that, may I say, is one that does not have the attention it needs to find a cure.. epilepsy in the language centers of your brain, on both hemispheres, anyone? Watching your healthy child lose the ability to speak and understand you, then descending into explosive and dangerous frustration attacks?! Jenny Mcarthy's boobs are being revealed for the wrong brain disorder.. how's that for rant material?!
@XxxRelaxxX31@xanga - Where's my research? Where is yours? Have you not seen the site of the parents who allowed their 1 day year old baby to have the HEP B vaccination, only to witness their baby swell up twice it's birth size and die weeks after the vaccination? Have you not heard of the cases of lawyers advising the parent's of children who have been damaged by vaccinations to call it "brain damage" rather than autism? That's the only way parents win settlements against these Pharma companies. Then, they get quietly paid off, so that they say nothing. There is no proof that it's genetic. So please, tell me how my research is wrong? Especially, considering we have only had less than 20 years of these vaccination routines on our children, with a huge increase of the amount of shot rounds that are given from a young age. We've noticed a 200% increase of "autism" or what another person could refer to as "brain damage" within our children. Obviously it's something else other than genetics. It's either GMOs (For god's sake, don't tell me you think this is a good thing too!) or vaccinations. Either way, I think you're drinking too much of the Government's propaganda.
Enjoyed your article. May I inquire as to where I can order your book?
You reduce a woman to her fake boobs, botox, and insult her because of her age and you want people to take YOU seriously. This post is more a disgrace to families of people with autism than any person removing their clothes for a cause. Shame on you! I work with children with autism and some of them would point out your rudeness to you.
Sexist rants have no place in helping autism. Geeze. I think there is plenty to rationally criticize Jenny McCarthy for but her boobs and age aren't two of them.
I think you might be a little bitter. Let her do her thing and you do yours. You obviously tried to garner attention as well.
Yes, celebrities have special privileges that we don't, and I have heard of people overcoming their disability, though not cured.
It is a statistical fact that ALL autistic people wetre born on days with a vowel in the name, but don't tell Generation Rescue in case they try and ban the calendar! Jenny McCarthy may be an idiot, but she's not worth getting upset about, there are more important things upon which to expend energy.
