Autisable on PBS/NPR - Hearsay with Cathy Lewis
For those who missed or were unable to listen to the broadcast on a local FM station in Norfolk, VA - here's the story.
I was contacted on Monday to be a part of a Panel of experts on a PBS/NPR radio program called, 'Hearsay with Cathy Lewis'.
First I was a bit shocked, but honored as Cathy Lewis hosts one the top talk radio programs in our region (Norfolk, VA). It reaches out to over 35,000 listeners daily throughout southeastern Virginia and Northeast North Carolina.
Here's a picture of Cathy:
The producers of the show were very kind as well. Let's just say that those who work on the show make it run like a well oiled machine.
It's been about 20 years since I've stepped into a broadcast booth. The last time I did was for a local radio station to learn about broadcasting and I ended up getting my FCC license (don't know if that's still even valid).
I was a bit rusty at first - as you could probably tell I was also a bit nervous. But the second half of the show I found my ground and pushed forward.
There were two Doctors on the show as well, sharing some great information about Autism. Needless to say, I was a bit intimidated at times - but very encouraged as well.
Dr. Harrington is a father of a 16 year old with Autism, and is the Division Director of General Academic Pediatrics, CHKD -www.pediatrics.evms.edu/academics/divisions/generalacademicpeds.html
Don't know how well I did, but I would say average. Hey, I'm learning and relearning some things in this area...so I understand there's much for me to practice to get better in this area.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to it. Feel free to share your thoughts - I can take criticism.
