  • The Past Month...

It's been so long since I've written a post, I'm not sure I know where to begin.

Actually, I started about four or five different posts, but never got past the first paragraph or two.

So in an effort to get back into the swing of things, I'm going to give you a quick Reader's Digest version of the life and times of my family over the last month or so.
    1. I had a wonderful trip to Chicago.  There I learned two valuable lessons:  First, I need to do this more often and, second, my family can survive without me.
    2. My leg seems to be healing.  I can actually walk a bit without crutches, although I've taken to sporting a lovely new cane.   My kids are having a field day with this one.  If I hear one more old lady joke, I'm gonna blow.
    3. There's new insight on Twin Sister. Over the summer, Twin Sister had some new testing and with this came a new set of diagnoses.    Surprise, surprise.  Among other things, we found out that she's on the autism spectrum.  Where have we heard this one before?
    4. Thank God for public education.  Wait, did I just say that?  Yep.  That's because school is in full swing and for the first time in a long while, everyone seems to be doing OK.  This includes three children at one school and for this I am eternally grateful.
    5. After 13 years taking care of my kids, I've decided it's time to go back to work.  So if you know of anyone who needs a writer or marketing type or self-proclaimed advocate, just drop me a line.  If not, just wish me luck.
    6. The mold's not so bad.  We had the house tested and while we do have some water damage and mold, it's not half as bad as we originally thought. Now if we could just find a good contractor who works for free, we'd be set.
    7. Help is finally on the way. We are finally underway with some much needed services for Twin Sister, Big Brother and the rest of the gang.
    8. The more things change... Last we looked we still have a teen, twin adolescents with special needs and a precocious kindergartener.   As always, chaos continues to rule.
So that's what's been up in our world for the last 45 days or so.  How about you?
