So it's that time of year to get all the kiddos back in school. It's also that time of year where you are "required" to get your kids their routine vaccinations. Here's a little shot of truth: you can refuse to vaccinate. In fact, you have a legal right to refuse to vaccinate, and guess what, your schools have respect that right and allow you child to attend, even if they are not vaccinated.
It's a little magic piece of paper called an exempt. Now, get ready, because if you're refusing to vaccinate, you may be in for a rough battle. Then again, with autism in your life, this may be just another daily adventure.
I know people who have fought with their schools about vaccine exempts. Schools will lie and say that there is no such thing as an exempt or that THEY don't have an exempt for their school or that it's against the law to not vaccinate. That's all a crock of shit. And I have the proof.
Below is a chart, taken from the National Vaccine Information Center, that demonstrates the different reasons that are acceptable for choosing not to vaccinate your child.
Visit the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) website (www.nvic.org) for more information on vaccine laws, state requirements, informed consent, and other information on vaccines.

Remember, vaccination is a CHOICE. And it is your choice. I am NOT telling not to vaccinate. But do your research, read up on it, and then make in INFORMED decision. I suggest checking out 'The Vaccine Book' by Dr. Bob Sears. Lots of great unbiased information.

Nice research!!! :)
@GRIMACHU@twitter - Yes. Herd immunity protects the select few who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons (and the few who will not for other reasons), but this works only if the vast majority of the population are immune. A handful of children without vaccinations in a school probably won't hurt anyone, though.
Perhaps the question at the end of this is whether vaccinations are likely to harm your child more than the lack of them might harm everyone else.
