Always the dilemma during an extended period of time off from school for the boys. This year it was fairly easy as Dan has discovered he is in love with trekking through the countryside so we didn't have to spend a lot of time navigating the crazy tourists spots like the zoo.
The mountains just outside of the suburbs are full of trails and the weather has been pretty cooperative.
We've only had one day of steady rain but that would not stop us however it did provoke Dan to scream as loud as he could to make sure God heard he wasn't pleased with getting wet.
So although there is some mommy anxiety when the cell signal has been out of range and there are always those signs posted to beware of mountain lions and rattle snakes it's been really great getting out from behind these four walls. The views always reaffirm my belief that this didn't all just happen via a cosmic blast but some of the best views have been of Dan in such a relaxed state and Brian pointing out the simple beauty of an unusual rock formation.
