  • A Small Miracle at the Crayola Factory

I went to the Crayola Factory twice in the last month. Both times with little nieces and nephews. It is a really fun, hands on place for kids. There are crafts for all ages, a few are age appropriate so you need to be able to work with the kids of the same age group.

They have hot wax that is fun to draw with

Lots of paper and glue to make seasonal crafts. Here they made "Surfing Gingerbread Men"

There was a big  chalk walk to draw on

My favorite place was where you work with "Model Magic", it is white but you can use markers to blend into the clay to make colors

She made me laugh, afraid to put down the tool, people grabbed stuff up pretty quick, she kept what she had. We all had fun making things.

    My niece made a dog

The first thing I do is make a few colors to work with, then I make food!

A little boy came to see what I was doing, he was really shy but I talked to him as I worked.
He listened but never said a word. He ran back to his table and would come back again.
After a while he came back and stared at the yellow clay I made for the mustard,
finally he pointed to it. I asked him if he needed some,
I said "Did you make a hotdog?", he nodded.
I cut a piece of yellow and rolled it and gave it to him.
He disappeared but soon returned for ketchup also.
I finally asked him his name...he whispered "Tyler" to me.
I went to see what he made on our way to the next station, he proudly showed it to me.
He had finished his hot dog and had started making a cupcake.
I gave him colors to make sprinkles for his cupcake.
I said "Bye Tyler, it was good to meet you" and his parents
looked at me and asked how I knew his name, I said he told me.
They said he is autistic and he doesn't talk very often and mainly talks to them.
They said it was amazing that he talked to me.
I felt like it was a little miracle, that just made my day.

    • About Me: About me...I love Jesus who is my hope and my security. I also love my husband and my dysfunctional but very funny family. A big part of my life is being Aunt Bessie to my great nieces and nephews. I love to talk to people and hear their stories. I especially get a kick out of watching people and noticing the funny everyday things they say and do....like watching my mom trying to extract money from the ATM,if she needs $120 she'll do the fast $40 three times. I work in our greenhouse love to take photos. We have a huge garden and I preserve many things. I keep my hands busy writing, doodling, sewing , crafting or playing my mandolin. I love to cook and dislike doing dishes. I love people, photography, old movies from the silent era to the 40's, most types of music, reading(especially southern stories) and old junk or what they now call 'vintage things'. I'm either barefoot or in Birkenstocks. I love to laugh.
