  • OT And Speech Sessions with Videos

We have good days and bad days with therapy. Yesterday, we had both. His OT therapy started off with my son selecting yes for the tire swing. It turns out, he didn’t want the tire swing. He wanted to swing, that’s why he selected yes, but he wanted the platform swing. He was asked if he wanted to swing on the tire swing, and he said yes, he had to do it. He wouldn’t. Nothing we did would change his mind. We told him that he could use the platform swing at the end of therapy, if he used the tire swing. That didn’t change his mind. We weren’t changing ours. The tire swing is more difficult for him, so we felt it was important that he use it.

What surprised me the most, is that he has never refused to get on the tire swing. He has a little trouble getting on it, but once on, he loves it. He was determined that he was not going to use it yesterday. Because of that, he didn’t get to use any of the swings.

Next, was play with putty. That didn’t go too bad. It was afterwards, that we had a problem. Transitioning him from playing with the putty, to throwing a ball was difficult. He didn’t think the table was clean enough, and did not want to get up until it was. Only, it’s an old table, and needed a cleaner to get it to look good. It took some doing, but we finally got him up to play ball.

He did good with this, until we let him sit down on the mats to roll the ball to his sister. There seemed to be specks on the mat that needed to be cleaned off. This took up his attention and he was not going to be distracted from his goal. Between me and the therapist, we were able to get him to stand up. At that point, therapy was almost done.

Next, we had speech therapy. It started off bad, because the weather turned on us, and a heavy downpour of rain started. It was very loud in the little room we were in. This made it hard for him to concentrate. Eventually, we were able to get him on task, and the rain lightened up. Then the rest of therapy went good. I have some of the speech therapy videos posted in my Think-ets review and giveaway. Below are some OT session videos I took, along with some of the OT session.
