Walk Now for Autism
On Saturday, October 2, ISA had the privilege of participating in Walk now for Autism Speaks at the Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, New York. Autism Speaks is an organization dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, (ASD) to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments. Their signature fund-raising event is to host walks throughout the country and Canada.
ISA had 12 teammates consisting of employees and family members. ISA generously sponsored a table at the event granting us the opportunity to give away our newest safety resources to local agencies and families participating in the walk. This sponsorship received immense gratitude and warmth from the Autism Speaks representatives.
The SCCC field house was filled with a community of advocates. From bounce-houses to face painting, people were enjoying a beautiful fall day; all walking to help connect the pieces of the puzzle of autism spectrum disorders. It was great to spend part of the weekend with friends from The Center for Discovery , the wonderful people from Autism Speaks , and Assembly Woman, Aileen Gunther .
It is an honor to be gathered with others supporting a great cause. The event, filled with vivacity brings together individuals and families touched by autism, creating a united voice for those who face the unique challenges of day to day life with ASD.
