An 11 year old autistic boy's Halloween short story
Just the other day I wrote a blog about the gift writing can be for those with autism. The very next night, my eleven year old son, who has autism, brought home his Halloween-themed short story that he received an A for. No matter the grade, I was really thrilled with his writing. He asked if he could put up a website to share his story and I said I could post it at Autisable for him and that made him quite pleased. So, without any further ado... here is Thomas' story, "Count Thomula"
There was a boy and a girl. Their names were Brandon and Heather. Their mom and dad had gone out. It was a rainy day and they were bored. Brandon said "Let's go find something fun in the basement." Heather said no. Then Brandon said "She's a chicken!" So Heather got mad and said yes.
So, Brandon and Heather went to the basement. Brandon reached up to get something off a shelf and the whole shelf came down, unraveling and unknown door. So, Brandon and Heather went through the door. At the end, they found a coffin and there was a table next to the coffin. On the table was a bottle. It's label said "Vampire Breath." Brandon took the bottle.
Heather said, "Come on!" So, they left. Right before they got out of the room, the coffin started top open. The kids were in fear. Then a guy came out and stretched. He said "How are you?" and the kids told him their names. He said his namme was Count Thomula and then he saw the Vampire Breath. "Where did you that? Give it to me!" The kids said no because they thought he was evil. So they played keep away until they dropped it.
Brandon distracted the vampire while Heather grabbed the bottle. They tried to run away but they couldn't find the way out until they did. They tried to block the door but it was too late. The vampire chased them up the stairs. Oh, it was also their birthdays! So then went to the basement door when their parents stopped them and said "Happy Birthday" The kids were suprised to see that the vampire was their grandfather. He drank the vampire breath and remembered where he put his fangs in the cabinet and mom and dad's present for them was a bunk coffin for them to share!
