Most recently, a federal court ruled that a link between vaccines and autism is no longer the case, meaning that any families having children with autism are not entitled to any type of monetary compensation.
Many families with children with autism felt that a vaccine preservative had the potential to cause autism due to a mercury-containing compound. This vaccine compound had been used since the 1930s, and its presence within the vaccine prevents bacterial infections, like staph. However, in the present day, the anti-vaccination movement began specifically because many felt that the mercury found within vaccines could potentially cause autism. This was further enhanced by Jenny McCarthy becoming the face of this campaign since her son suffers from autism.
However, the latest news for any families with children with autism is that there is no scientific link between this mercury compound and autism. Furthermore, in one Danish study, the rates of autism actually rose after this compound was removed from all vaccines. This contradiction showed an inverse relationship to what was thought by many people in autism being caused by this vaccine compound.
Most medical experts do not support the theory in the mercury compound in vaccines causing autism, especially since there is no scientific evidence. However, this mercury compound was removed from vaccines for infants in 1999 for safety purposes. The most recent case in court rulings was in March where a vaccine court ruled against three specific cases of families suing due to the development of autism within their children. These families felt that the mercury compound caused autism, but a judge ruled against these findings.
The bottom line is that there is no solid cause yet revealed for autism, and parents who are avoiding vaccines for this reason no longer need to do so. It seems that the recent court rulings may put an end to the anti-vaccine movement related to autism.

I certainly hope so. These well-intentioned idiots are endangering their own children by listening to fearmongers like McCarthy.
Studies on vaccines are done on each individual vaccine on it's own and NOT on multi-dosing over time during rapid stages of development.
Guess if you are going to use the scheduling of the CDC you should ask the manufacturers/doctors for a stipend as a study participant and also ask that they keep data to include a baseline neurological examination prior to any vaccinations being given and then subsequent thorough neurological workups with each subsequent dosing over the span of the vaccine schedule.
The manufactures and stock holders are getting a huge pay-off you might as well get a piece of the action.

I'd rather be a well intentioned idiot than one of you people. I'm glad you all trust your government. They would never lie to you.
@aRiddleinNineSyllables@xanga - Right, because the government and the scientific community NEVER tell the truth, either *insert sarcasm here*. After all, science and technology was just a fluke because those lies happened to be so ridiculous that at times they became true, right? *insert MORE sarcasm here*
@P1AutismMom - http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.1086/596476
Well all I can say is I'm grateful for my non-vaccinated, non-autistic child. Especially when he looks me in the eyes and says "I love you mommy". And if one of my non-vaccinated children ever develops autism then I might believe they aren't related.
@aRiddleinNineSyllables@xanga - That's all you can say? So your way of gathering proof for the other side is if your own child develops autism, while ignoring the hundreds of others who were tested in numerous case studies... that's the stupidest defense I've ever heard. Chances are your child is more likely to die from a preventable, treatable disease than be diagnosed with autism, so at the very least you can rest easy knowing you were never "proven wrong".
My cousin didn't start showing signs of autism until after he had been vaccinated. This was in the mid 80's when all of this stuff had not much research done on it, but, everyone in my family was led to believe that the vaccine caused the on set of autism in him.
Unfortunately, people endanger not only their children, but also mine, when they refuse to vaccinate. We are seeing a resurgence of illnesses that were basically dead because parents make an unfortunate choice. I can understand wanting a definitive cause for autism, but no link can be proven, time and time again. It's time now to look elsewhere for causes. Thanks for the post.
even if there was a small chance that these vaccines caused autism, i would rather have an autistic child who isnt going to die from a preventable disease or spread them to other children and cause a resurgence in "old" childhood sicknesses. the whole vaccine autism link never made sense to mea anyway because wouldnt the rates of autism diagnoses go up dramatically soon after the vaccines were introduced into the population ??? Idk if someone wants to explain the time line to me im curious.
Really I could have said a lot more. But arguing with people who blindly believe everything they are told is like arguing with an idiot and its a waste of time. But since you are set on hashing this out, I will waste my time and give you a link . I'm done here. I don't care what you do with your children, just don't worry about what I do with mine.
and lets see people used to think x-rays, thalidomide and bpa were safe. The government, doctors, media said don't worry about it and now we know these things can be and are dangerous.
Me not vaccinating my child does not cause a resurgence. Its immigration, particularly illegal immigration. If a disease that is almost eradicated here is prevalent in another country and people come in illegally (don't go through customs where they could potentially be diverted) then it starts to spread into our country. But if your child is vaccinated you don't have anything to worry about provided vaccinations actually work, right?
@aRiddleinNineSyllables@xanga - The link you provided does a poor job of providing the link between autism and vaccines - in fact, the strongest link it can provide is not a direct link but rather a correlation with another effect that may or may not be correlated with autism - in essence, it's describing a weak correlation with another weaker correlation as a "link". That's the shoddiest framework for an argument I've seen so far. The author is right on one point, though - it's too early to tell. However, why the author proceeds to contradict that point is beyond me.
Your statement on worrying about your own children and not others can be construed as incredibly asinine when considering herd immunity.
"and lets see people used to think x-rays,
thalidomide and bpa were safe. The government, doctors, media said
don't worry about it and now we know these things can be and are
dangerous."
They CAN BE dangerous. As with anything that is abused, it can be dangerous. If you're stupid enough to abuse x-rays, don't complain about how x-rays should be banned because they allegedly gave you cancer.
"Me not vaccinating my child does
not cause a resurgence. "
Bullshit.
