Yes, my friends, it is once again Autism Awareness Month! One of many months out of the year in which we put our game face on and advocate, advocate, advocate, for our children and relations living with the many forms of Autism.
I chose to share this particular wallpaper with you because I feel that it rings true for all of us. It doesn't matter if you are a Mom, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, Grandparent, or no relation at all! We owe it to these individuals to make sure that they are receiving the care, no matter how major or minor it may be, they deserve and are recognized as the fantastic individuals they are.
We might not always enjoy having to explain our childrens/relatives/friends Autism away to people, but we must remember that in doing so, we are educating people that would otherwise not know what it is. We are raising awareness and helping the world to better understand and accept these people as they are. We have to see the world through the eyes of the autistic mind and it is one that can be confusing and make perfect sense all at once. I know I wish that people could see the world through the eyes of my nephew. I am sure they would be amazed.
These children are our 24/7 jobs and the most precious things in our lives. The greatest minds in history have almost always had some form of Autism, and they often shook the very ground we walked upon and revolutionized the way we now think and do things. We owe it to these people and the future great minds to take charge, not just this month, but every month, and show the world how priviledged and rewarding it is that we are to have them around as our family members and friends!
So, my friends, display your Autism with pride and show the world that we are much more than just a statistic, we are a family!
