• Nature's treatment, At a Discount

  
  

    When we first started a biomedical regimen with Logan that's how I felt about all the supplements that we were buying. Of course, nothing was covered by insurance as is the case with many autism therapies. But we had a very sick little boy whose immune system was completely kaput. He was sick 5 days out of 7 during a week for no reason. He only went to preschool two days a week. At that time, we didn't go to church. We couldn't between his meltdowns and his sickness. But that's another post all together.
  
  

  When we first started out, we bought only from the doctor's office or from other autism pharmacies like Coastal or Kirkman's. But this can get very expensive fairly quickly. First, there is the cost of the supplements then you have to factor in the shipping. Plus, these places rarely run significant sales on their products. Not like the national chain pharmacies.
  
  

  So, I set out to determine if my local stores like Publix, CVS or Walgreens had supplements that we could use in our regiment. Turns out that indeed their are many supplements that you can buy at these stores. Sundown is a great brand that is sold their as is Natures Made. Publix version of these items are great too. All of the three are guaranteed to be free of the top allergens like gluten, dairy, peanuts, etc. All three stores also carry some of the major brands that are desirous like Mega Red thereby saving you shipping if nothing else. I can not vouch for Wal-mart as I don't shop there. Really, I hate that store. But that is another post too.
  
  

  The best part is that these stores run sales ALL the time. BOGO which is short for buy one get one free is a common occurrence. There are coupons out all the time too so if you happen upon a bogo like I did recently on Mega Red Krill Oil, you can save even more with the coupons. Sundown melatonin was recently on sale at CVS bogo too.
  
  

  This strategy has enabled me to significantly cut the supplement budget. Thus freeing up much needed funds for other therapies like horseback riding, RDI and physical therapy all of which we pay for out of pocket. I'm not sure why we have insurance when they don't cover many autism therapies. But again, I digress.
