I love this photo. Scott moved to our house a few months before we even met. He'd lived in it 18 months before we were married. Being a single, never been married, naval officer nearing 40, he was able to purchase a large four bedroom house on approximately 1.5 acres of woods. He bought it as a investment. He planned to sell it when the Navy moved him again. Well, the Lord had other plans. Good thing, because we could never afford this house now. But I digress.
When we were first married we could still see the back fences of the houses around our lot. However, holly bushes and trees grow naturally around us. Within five years we can only see the hollies all year round. I love them. They are so beautiful. This is a tree right outside our front door. Twenty feet from the back door is a wall of holly bushes. There could be dead bodies between our house and the neighbors' fence and we'd never know it. (Yes, my mind works this way. It upsets my husband. Mostly because I make him walk the property every few months to make sure there is nothing between the wall of hollies and the neighbors' gates which is dead or illegal.)
Next, I asked everyone to help me decide which Christmas picture to send out this year with my New Year's letter. You were as equally divided as I was. So, I took a suggestion from
and combined them. What do you think? (This way my "life size" Humphrey Bogart is mostly edited out of the photo - which makes my husband happy.)
Finally, I had to post these two pictures of my kids, who wanted to stay up and welcome in the New Year.
He's the last one I thought would go to sleep. He's usually the last one to sleep every night and the first one up everyday.
Faith didn't quite make it. I think this deserves a caption. I'd love to hear your ideas. I think with a great caption, I could make it a Howe Family tradition to send this card out every year just before New Year's.
