  • Flu Vaccine Injures Redskins Cheerleader; “Autism Quack” Brings Her Back

Desiree Jennings, a Washington Redskins cheerleader, took a seasonal flu shot in the summer. Days later she developed muscle dystonia, suffering seizures and uncontrollable muscle twitching that disabled her totally–unless she was jogging or walking backward. So strange. I saw a video about her online not too long ago.

Generation Rescue organizers saw it too and referred her to a controversial autism practitioner who has helped her tremendously. This is Rashid Buttar, MD, of Charlotte, NC, who is no longer affiliated with Defeat Autism Now! (DAN) and has some unusual protocols, even for autism practitioners.  His high fees draw fire, along with his controversial practices and lack of traditional certifications.

But in Desiree’s case, he has proven his value. In the intervening time, she got a lot worse; in fact, by the time she got to Dr. Buttar she appeared to be dying of acute respiratory distress, according to Fox News. Using hyperbaric oxygen chambers and IV administration of nutrients, he treated her, and she got a lot better.  The problem was a toxic reaction to the shot, including mercury toxicity, he told Fox News.  He expects her to fully recover with continued treatment.

The Web sites I looked up that mention Dr. Buttar contain some fairly incendiary language.  He is particularly criticized for charging high fees.

What this whole debate needs is some basic information so we can stop slinging mud and look at the facts. I am hoping someone will do the study I have been calling for: comparing autism outcomes for vaccinated vs. unvaccinated populations. As I noted in my last post, a study similar to that WAS done– looking for increase in allergies, asthma, eczema, and hay fever in vaccinated populations. In fact they found a statistically significant increase in those conditions.

Vaccines are NOT proven safe. The basic research on them has NOT been done. Let’s do it.

30% to 60% of Doctors won't even get the H1N1 Vaccine   Do they know something we don't????    http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2009/11/23/prsd1123.htm#s1

Hasn't this already been proven faulty?

@P1AutismMom - The doctors at our hospital got it.  I got it, my wife and 7 month old daughter got it.  Your article states that it was a SHORTAGE of the vaccine that prevented the doctors from getting it, not a lack of interest.  Here's the quote from your article:

"but the mandate was suspended later that month due to vaccine shortages."

Hasn't the relationship between autism and vaccinations been falsified several times already?
    Check here
    and also HERE
    or perhaps HERE

I'll agree whole-heatedly that more research needs to be done, and further work in necessary to be sure to keep our medications/immunizations safe.

I urge anyone with young children to look beyond what the Media is screaming at us on a daily basis.  These are entities who’s future profits rely heavily on pharmaceutical advertising revenue. Just count how many ads you see during shows like 60 minutes, The Doctors, Your Evening News or your Morning News Shows

Here is another great source from an MD who is not a zealot but is one of many who question the rush to vaccinate the masses.   http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=218967844166&id=171964245890#/pages/Dr-Tenpenny-on-Vaccines/171964245890?ref=nf

@slicy@xanga -  I'm glad you agree that we need to keep things safe but the constant denial will not sway those of us who saw it happen right before our very eyes.  You've been lucky, so far.  Good for you.

As far as the doctors are concerned, it sounds like the "shortage" is being used as an excuse.  You can't tell me that first responders in health care don't have access to vaccine.  They can spin it however they want it and we believe until the unthinkable happens to someone in our own lives and than the unthinkable doesn't seem so far fetched.

Not everybody in health care wants to receive the vaccine http://allhealthcare.monster.com/news/articles/3825-ny-health-care-workers-protest-mandatory-h1n1-flu-shots?page=2

@Strangebrain@xanga - If I could upvote your reply I would. I am outright appalled that this drivel made the front page.

@P1AutismMom - There is a difference between opposing mandatory vaccination (relevant to both the articles you linked) and opposing vaccination itself.

    @Dargon@xanga - Thanks.  As am I.

    @edlives@xanga - Ironic?

  • edlives@xanga

@Strangebrain@xanga - That there's two posts about the same topic/person, both were featured on Fox...but both had contradicting information.  hmmm...(and both on Autisable)

  • P1AutismMom

It's good to have a debate and to hear both sides for a change.  Goliath isn't happy with David wielding that little slingshot.

@Strangebrain@xanga -  Fact is the opposition is there and it pertains to vaccine.  Of Course Everyone needs to make their own choices for as long as we are allowed to make them..

  • lifeonacitybusem4@xanga

You're missing a key fact... her dystonia had a psychological origin.  It's amazing how no one can get the facts right before they descend into a state of paranoia.

  • cody_ashby@xanga

problem being, research HAS been done on thousands of vaccinations. this is why strange reactions happen to 1 in a million.

also why smallpox has been eradicated...
  • cody_ashby@xanga

@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - very very true, good point. i almost forget about that aspect of the diagnosis. which pretty much rules out mercury poisoning and a host of other claims against the effectiveness of vaccinations.

  • Liquid_Pain_523@xanga

Yes people, let's not get a vaccine for a disease that's killed thousands of people because of a one in a million chance that was apparently treatable. Let's bring up all these scare stories about vaccines. I'd sure love to get polio back.

@P1AutismMom - Most doctors aren't in the age range where you're supposed to get an H1N1 shot. They could be saving the resources for people that need them. "Shortage" isn't an excuse, it's an actual fact. Otherwise they'd open it up to everyone, not just high-risk groups. So yes they have access to the vaccine, but why take it from someone that really needs it?

@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - Thank you for pointing this out. It's all about sensationalism. The fact that vaccines are mostly safe is not an interesting story. A woman getting a strange condition from a vaccine, now that's sensational news. Not good news, but it gets ratings.

  • I_choke_you@xanga

When I got the seasonal flu shot this year, I signed a waiver saying I understood that there could be risks involved (allergic reactions, etc), and they verbally let me know that I could be adversely affected, though the chances were slim.  Finally, they requested that I stick around for at least 15 (or 20? I think it was 15) minutes to make sure that I wouldn't pass out or have any of the unlikely side effects.

  • P1AutismMom

Check this PDF File that actually is the H!N! vaccine insert.  Click on section 8,  USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS and read carefully.  This is just one example of why this is not a good idea.  If you have the attention span read further.  It is important that you know the facts

@Liquid_Pain_523@xanga -  If we are to believe what we are being told, doctors are in the group that the shot is recommended for because they are dealing with the general public more importantly, people with compromised immune systems and actual people who are infected with the flu so they are at greater risk for spreading the virus to vulnerable individuals.

Today's lesson: don't trust ANYONE with the letters "MD," "RN," or "PharmD" after their names.

  • Liquid_Pain_523@xanga

@P1AutismMom - Yes, but they also have better treatment to health care so that if they get an illness, they won't die. Protective clothing is supposed to prevent the spread of disease both ways, doctors are supposed to not work if they are sick, and hand-washing prevents the spread of most diseases, including H1N1. While none of these rules are perfect, they are good enough that we should get the limited resources to people who could die if they get the disease.

  • Dargon@xanga

@P1AutismMom - It contains ethyl mercury, which is not bio-accumulative, it has an in-body half life of about 3 days, as opposed to the methyl mercury's in body half life of about 40 days. It also has about the same amount of ethyl mercury as a tuna fish sandwich contains methyl mercury. There is no risk of mercury poisoning from the H1N1 shot, or any shot preserved with Thimerosal.

Thank you for the link to the sheet though, interesting reading.

  • P1AutismMom

@Liquid_Pain_523@xanga -  Agreed and this is why I encourage my boys to practice frequent handwashing, staying away from other students and faculty that are coughing.

Typically 40% of health care workers do not take the seasonal flu vaccine and this is in years past when there was no shortage so there are those in the medical field that are refusing the vaccine for reasons other than shortages.   They are second on the list of individuals who should receive the vaccine according to recent guidelines so it will be interesting to see how many of them do not partake once the vaccine becomes readily available.

Who should get the H1N1 flu vaccine?

Vaccine experts recommend that high-risk groups get vaccinated against the illness.  This includes:

    ● Pregnant women

    ● Healthcare providers

    ● People aged 6 months through 24 years

    ● People who are around infants less than 6 months old

    ● Anyone with a chronic health condition that increases their risk of severe illness.  Such chronic conditions include but are not limited to asthma, heart disease, emphysema, diabetes, and a weakened immune system.

By the way, my boys are vaccinated against Polio and other more serious illness' but not everything just because it is on a list.  As old as I am I remember a time when flu vaccine was only recommended for the elderly and immune compromised individuals and for good reason, these were the people most likely to develop complications from a secondary infection caused by weakened immune system after suffering with the flu.  I also remember a time when an outbreak of Chicken Pox was not looked upon as a horrific event but now it seems every time a kid comes down with it the local news has to break into programming to announce it.  It's a bit over the top and we need to ask ourselves why now.  What motivates media to participate in promotion of pharmaceutical products?   Next time you watch a major news program take note of all the ads you see during the 1 hour broadcast.   There is a reason to be skeptical and that reason is $$$.   That's all I'm saying here.

  • P1AutismMom

@Dargon@xanga -  Which makes me wonder why when a woman is pregnant she is advised to avoid fish such as Tuna and Swordfish.  Any mercury from these sources would have to travel through the digestive system before making it's way to the bloodstream and to the developing fetus, Yet when the baby is born they are given a dose via injection of Hep B vaccine directly into the blood stream.  We are talking about a l day old infant.   Now we are being advised to give these same babies  two doses of H!N! vaccine at 6 months which again is injected into the bloodstream.   Also I believe the allowable amount in Parts Per Billion is based on the weight of an adult.  It just doesn't make sense.

  • Dargon@xanga

@P1AutismMom - It makes perfect sense. The mother is told to avoid consuming fish, as it contains methyl mercury, the stuff with the 40 day half life. The body is very efficient at absorbing it, 90% enters the bloodstream. It accumulates in the mother, it accumulates in the child. Meanwhile the ethyl mercury in a vaccine has about a 3 day in body half life, and as such is gone rather quickly, ten times faster than methyl mercury.

Also, the Hep B vaccine is Thimerosal free. Not even trace amounts. Depending on the manufacturer, mercury levels in the Hep B vaccine range from none to <1mg/mL

@Dargon@xanga -  Unfortunately my son was born in 1996 before the ban took affect in California.    My boys were the only biological children born in the 90's to me and my 9 biological siblings.and none of them have affected children, not even ADHD.    There is no history of autism or other neurological disorder on my husband's side of the family either.   It just causes me to believe there were environmental triggers rather than a genetic predisposition.     I also witnessed my son have a severe reaction to the DTaP vaccine.
