Now that is scary situation.. people should be more aware of the needs of these autistic people.

Just this Tuesday I was at my son's IEP meeting where the administrator of the local school district told everyone at the meeting that the statistics are now 1 in 59 boys      She said it with a horrified demeanor and in front of a very pregnant staff member who is expecting her second son in December. Nice Work        I chimed in with what I believe to be true;  If you look at autism as someone like my son then the numbers are much, much lower.  Widening the umbrella to include what would have been labled ADHD or Speech Delayed a few years ago, then of course you are going to come up with a rediculously inflated statistic.  The fact that many of the interviewees were noted as saying their children no longer held the diagnosis of autism shows that something is wrong in the way screenings are being done.

Conducting a phone survey, now that's just dumb.
