The Pocono Equestrian Center
For those that don't know, I've always like horses. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford owning - or at least participating more fully - in the Equestrian world.
Now, when Autisable was running the Horse Boy movie promotion, I came across the Pocono Equestrian Center.
They're located, interestingly enough, in Scranton Pennsylvania.
Now, that's a bit of a treck for me - but I know many people near Scranton - so if you're near there...let me know what you think of this place.
In any event, I was in touch with Beverly. She sent me a lot of information relating to a year round camp, and also how they work a lot with the disabled community - those with Autism included. (aka - equine therapy).
Now, like the Horse Boy, it appears that horses do more then just help out those ranchers and herders...and the horse aficionados....
There's actual 'proof in the pudding' of equine therapy working.
Now, here's a couple of youtube vids about the Pocono Equestrian Center.
Next time I travel to Pennsylvania....I'm stoppin' by there with Short Stack...and we're goin' for a ride.------------------------
Are there any Local Equestrian Centers in your area that cater to Special needs?

I live in St. Louis and volunteer at a stable for riders with disabilities. I work with a fourteen-year-old girl with Down Syndrome and a four-year-old with Autism. I've been volunteering there for more than three years, and the kids really seem to enjoy it and get a lot of benefit from it.
I live in Charlotte, NC, and there's a great place nearby called the LifeSpan Theraputic Riding center.
