  • Let's get together

For over a year I have avoided any groups on autism. It's a touchy subject and rightfully so! We invest everything into our children. Autism is not one size fits all. BUT I cannot fight this battle alone. Some days I'm tired and defeated and I need encouragement. I need to be reminded that all is well, that everything will be okay and what I am doing is so very worth all the frustration/weariness/heartache. I bet you need the same.

ASD isn't the same for every child. Genetics and environment play a crucial role. What works for one child won't work for another. I want to be a balanced mother that realizes this and accepts it. But I also don't ever want to stop going through the open doors and beating on every other door I can. I have yet to meet another mom who doesn't feel the same way. Just as our children are precious treasures to us we too are strong, vibrant woman (parents) who ache, who fight for our children.

I encourage you to boldly take on the challenge of finding the balance between accepting and cherishing your child for who they are right now. Even if they never go any further we will still love them with EVERY fiber of our being. And at the same time: Never give up, never loose hope. Keep fighting with every single thing you got, and then some for this little one that's your world.

I've seen too much animosity between the "recovered" and the "non- recovered", "pro vaccines" and "anti-vaccines", people for this diet and people for that and so on and so forth. Autism is not widely understood there is going to be a lot of controversies. But we all love our children, that's the common ground. Let's be gentle and understanding of each others weaknesses and bond together on our common ground. For our children.

How do you avoid the controversies and find balance with your child?
